What Are Thoughts

June 24, 2013

Thoughts and the space between  thoughts are the same whether they're in your "head" or outside of you (in the "world"). Inside and outside are the same. The thoughts in your head are made of the same substance and are in the same place as what you see outside of you. Everything is a thought...the "space" the "objects" and "you". It's all one so let's start there.

Everything that is happening right now--seeing, hearing, talking, smelling, eating, the sky, the sun, the taste of chocolate--all of it is one thought arising--not a billion separate thoughts.

It's one thought of separation. So if you have a thought right now of a slice or pizza, that's a separate thought being born out of this one thought of separation. You with me?

Where did this one thought of separation or one separate thought, come from? From Now. It's just "here" now and it's meaningless...as is all thoughts born of it. By "meaningless" I mean, they don't change anything...they don't change NOW. It has no purpose, no reason and no meaning.  Each thought is simply more of what's already here. More presence which does not add or diminish anything.

As much as we want our life to be OUR life and to have a purpose, meaning and a destiny;  it doesn't. So get over it. Meaning can only be found now. As long as I feel and believe that I'm a separate entity capable of being apart from this whole separate thought, I'll continue to search . Which means I'll continue to hurt myself. Hurting myself is allowed. I was just relieved to discover it's wholly unnecessary.
